Shark and Discovery Channel fans are well aware that Shark Week will be starting on July 31.

I was talking to my friend and I brought up how I wanted to go Shark Cage Diving in Cape Town and my friend was all “BUT YOU WILL GET EATEN!” and then had a spazz attack.

I am not afraid of sharks and I don’t think anyone else should be either.

Sharks are strong, healthy creatures. They are prone to cancer. The cartilage of a shark is being studied with the hope of developing anti-cancer drugs.

Most sharks aren’t dangerous. Over 90% of people who are attacked by sharks survive and sharks attack less then 100 people a year.

Did you know there are over 330 species of sharks and only 35 species are known to attack humans?

Sharks attack more men then women, scientists aren’t sure why. Can it be? Maybe chivalry isn’t dead.

Sharks are picky eaters. Sometimes they will just bite their prey once to decide if they like it or not. If they don’t like it then they will just swim away.

The nurse shark is the shark that is responsible for most shark bites. Many divers can’t resist the urge to pull the nurse sharks tail because it looks harmless but they always end up getting bitten.

Sharks can store food in their stomachs without digesting for 3 months. That will last them for a while.

Pigs kill more people a year than sharks.

Who else is looking forward to Shark Week?
